Moving with the c4

Gents I am moving from new york city to phoenix AZ tomorrow, and will be taking my pcar with me. I am recently separated from way too many years in the marines and am going out there to start a new life, with the girlfriend, dog, all my old stuff...

Here are some pics you dont see everyday of a pcar lol.

and here is my son wondering what the hell is going on and why his bed is in a truck.

it was NOT easy getting the car on the trailer, if i had a c4s i would have been screwed as i literally have 2 inches on both sides of the rear wheels. I had to stack wood etc etc just to get her up the ramps as well, but i was too nervous to hurt my baby to even think of taking my camera out.

I hope i like Phoenix, last time i was there i noticed scottsdale is flooded with porsches and the roads are butter smooth (compared to NYC). so if everything sucks, this is my first time in life having a garage to walk into, and have a car inside that puts a smile on my face everytime.

oh, and on top of it i had to get out of the car dukes of hazard style because the doors wouldnt clear the trailers arches...

I lived in Phoenix for 3 years and really enjoyed it. I still visit often. Good luck with the move.

congrats on the new life lol...i would cover that up...so no rocks or anything scratch it ...especially on a 2200mi trip

this is the only time i used a trailer with my porsche ...it was the worst trying to get the front up without scratching the front and it barely fit in width wise..lol

For that long of a trip, I'd be investing in a car cover ASAP. Nice car. Safe travels!

You should have just gotten PODS (www.PODS.com) for the move and driven the Porsche. MUCH easier and cheaper.

thanks alot for the kind words everyone. I looked into the pods, they were over double the cost of the uhaul, and their pickup/transport windows are spread over too big of a gap. the reacquaintance with all my earthly possessions be completely at the mercy of their transporters timeframes, which were a little too broad.

i have a warranty on my jag, so that will be driven by my lady, and i will be taking this damn truck. I also considered a professional car transporter, but all the quotes were over 2 thousand, and the cheaper companies refused to take a carrera (but they will take a loaded cayenne which costs comparably). So im doing it myself for the sake of saving about 4 grand.

hope my stinginess doesnt bite me in the ***...

Well good luck. And make sure you stay at or below 55 mph as the trailer states - I almost dumped a load when I exceeded that max many years ago, which is why I said, I'd never trailer again.

Good luck with your move. Be careful of small parking lots. I almost got stuck with a 24' truck and car trailer. I must have backed up and pulled forward a thousand times in a IHOP parking lot. Needless to say we did not eat there.
Also be careful parking at night time. Have a very good lock on your truck door and park near the office or vey very close to your room.

Yea im familiar with hauling big loads. I was on a wrecker team in iraq for 11 months so im pretty familiar with the ins and outs. I hate backing up, the whole reverse steering thing still throws me off.

Im going to leaving in about an hour and its good to see all the good responses. Oh, and i bought a $150 car cover and tied it down in about 30 places lol. through all the wheel spokes front and read bumper, side to side. i went over board.

I'll be back on in a few days. with pics of my freshly washed (and maybe lowered) c4 in my OWN driveway : ).
