Autocross question
Doing my first autocross this weekend at Infineon/Sears Pt.
Any pointers? What temps should I be running in my tires (225/265 Pirelli Asimetricos)?
Thanks in advance...

as for the temp i do not know, but run 39 / 42 psi in the tires. as you know the autocross traks are extremely tight with very sharp turns so you do not want to run too much camber on the front as your car will push and set your sway bars a bit softer up front. just play with the tire presure until you find a seting where you like it. not much you can do for auto cross. have fun.
I do alot of autoXing and the single best thing you can do to lower your times is invest in real autoX tires. I run Hoosiers, $1K spent on tires will beat $4K spent on suspension every time (of course you can do both
). The 996 is very neutral and pushes a bit in tight autocrosses. I would suggest running higher press in the rear to induce a bit of oversteer to help you rotate around corners. If your sway bars are adjustable (I use the GT3 bars) then put the front on the lightest setting to help with turn in. I haven't used street tires for 6 years now, but you do need to run them higher at than normal press. Don't think you can buy "high performance tires" and get similiar results as the Hoosiers, Kuhmos, or Pilot Sport CUPs. Until Kuhmo makes the V710 in our sizes, I'm sticking with Hossiers.
Rememeber look far ahead, rocket the start and drive it like ya' stole it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
