"Pop" noise from front end when turning

My front end emits a "poping" noise when at full left turn.
Time for a new CV or U joint up there? What's probable cause and estimated repair cost?
Thanks.

Assuming your car is a C4 then one or both of the front CV joints could be having problems. CV's can make popping noise when the grease gets bad and can often be heard/felt when turning; increasing noise with tighter turns probably makes this diagnoses more likely.

PS - rear CV's can also making poping noises.

Inspecting the CV boots for cracks or tears would be a good place to start. New or rebuilt axles are available, or you can attach the CV joint as a DIY. I rebuilt one of mine (a messy process meaning greasy and slimy) becuase it was making similar–sounding popping noise when turned sharp while backing out of a parking spot, but afterwards decided not to go ahead with the other side even though it was already out of the car (for PSS9 install).

Before you start spending money, though, I'd recommend inspecting the roll bar's end links. These have a habit of causing noise, too, although usually more related to bounce/rebound situations.

Mine is a C2...sorry for no clarification. I guess I should have used different terminology about front connections (i.e. there are no cv joints up front on a rear drive car).

It only does it on full lock left turns.

What is probably culprit?

Thanks.

When it pops can you feel it in the steering wheel? If the answer is yes that means is binding up then releasing.I'm thinking spring.Like Omar said lube it.If problem goes away don't worry about it.If not my guess is worn ball joint or steering part.Have it checked out before slapping on the race tires and taking it to the track.
