996 with 997 gt3 front using all OEM parts pics

Well it has been an emotional journey to be sure and not one to be undertaken lightly.......a lot more work then you think.....but then isn't it always with these type of projects!

Here are the results....in my opinion with the rear end of a 996 gt3 and the front end of a 997 gt3 = best looking car on the planet!!!

There were many times I thought this can not be done to the standard you would hope for...(the standard to which Porsche are renowned).....where it looks factory and not like a conversion....where every gap is perfect etc.

It took a lot of time and a lot of money.....what do you guys think???

Great job, must have cost 10k though. I'm doing 996 GT3RS upgrade to my C2 and Porsche parts are crazy expensive.

Nice job! Wow... okay, the next time someone cracks my bumper, I'm doing this... what parts did you buy and how much did you spend for the front-end portion of the conversion?

Looks amazing. How much did it cost?
Some times the rear looks too skinny on the 996-997 gt3 conversions, did you do anything to the rear?

Brave but it works, the only think I'd be slightly hesitant to do would be the yellow calipers, everything else works surprisingly well. Which area of the UK are you?

Yeah when i first started this project I was worried the rear would look skinny as the 997 front wings/fenders are a lot more flared compared to the 996....but now i've finished the conversion.......it looks perfect......the lines on this car when you see it in the flesh are amazing.......having the 997 gt3 wheels on with the different offset has absolutely transformed the rear end of the car.

People be warned this is not an easy conversion.......the parts you need: 997 fenders/mounting plate/bonnet/997 hinges and struts/ 997 fuel filler cap/997 lights/997 wiring loom/997 bumper and all lights/washer jets/mounting brackets for bumper front and side...........once you have all these parts oem of course.....then the fun really starts.......as the wings/fenders don't even nearly fit.....not even close.
You have to first cut out the top section of the chassis leg and weald in a new panel to flatten the inner wing section/chassis.....then the 997 wing/fender will at least sit kind of right.......then the fun starts as the door line on a 997 is completely different to a 996......so you have to radically alter the wing to get the door line to be right.
too many things you have to do for this conversion.........but if you could only see my car....it is litterally the best looking car i have ever seen........well sorth the time and money it cost me.......will have to work out how much it cost in the end.....but labour is the biggest factor........I knew people and did a lot of the work myself.

Now that i have done it once i could do it better the second time around.......being the car has turned out so great i am considering putting together a package for people to do this conversion.........collect the car from the client.......then maybe two weeks later give the car back to the client totally finshed.........just depends how much people are willing to pay.

Eitherway.......this job is not for the light hearted but if you have the courage......well you can see from my pics.....the reward is certainly there.......I can't begin to tell you guys how happy i am with my car.

the next question is....do i put in a 996 tt engine or a 997 3.8s engine???

I think this came out well. When I was first looking at the pics I was wondering about the side skirts as well. The question is the transition from rear to front. The taco wing is very curvy and the skirts compliment that look. But the front is more angular. I'm undecided still which would be more appropriate, but I like the overall look. I have never liked the angled rear bumper seam on the 997, I much prefer the 996 line there.

hmmm you guys have me thinking now......I won't be able to put 997 gt3 side sills on as they won't match the profile of the fender wheel arch line and the lower part of the fender.

Looks great. I've seen 996 to 997 front conversions before and this is by far the first to pull it of properly.

thanks guys.......yeah i've seen quite a few and they never look quite right....especially the fibre glass kits.......I'm over the moon the way it turned out.....every gap is perfect....the lines of the front to rear fenders is amazing......the new offset on the rear wheels make the rear look a lot wider and meaner......happy days all round :-)

Quality workmanship....not sold on the combined 996/997 concept...perhaps different skirts and wing...
