OK all you crazy guys there were football games being played yesterday.

The VF SC install took me about 40 hours to complete and this is not an easy DIY. If you do not wrench on you car DON"T DO THIS PROJECT. Find a qualified installer. The hardest part was installing the new injectors. My hands look like they had been chewed on by a puppy for a week. VF sent me the updated cooling system for a 997 and the balance for the 996 with the new V3 SC (no oil lines). The instructions suck and gloss over many of the steps as well as having to shift back and forth between the 996 and 997 instructions. I did hear that VF was planning to update their instruction manuals.

Test drive-On the first drive my blood pressure was out of control and supprised that I didn't code right there. Every noise and rattle sounded like the car would explode but all was well and only a small water leak at the coolant tank for the SC. The second ride I had calmed down and as instructed stayed under 4K rpm and you can slightly hear the SC spool up and down. The car has a slightly different whine (sound) now and a bearing clatter. I would suggest that both idler pulley bearings be replaced during installation and I'm going to change mine ASAP. There was a fair amount of belt dust and I hope that this is just break in.

Driveability-Remember I'm under 4K rpm the car performs the same as before so not really any update here. I'm going to drive the car again tonight

Thx for sharing Kirk. I'm very interested in your experience with this as I'm kicking around the idea of doing the install myself sometime in the future.

I've never heard of a break-in on a supercharger. When will you be able to go full throttle?

There is no need. Just warm it up and let her rip.

Many mechanics have told me you have to lossen the motor mounts to get the injectors in or better yet drop the motor. To do it with the motor in place is pure torture especially in a 4s. TPC is in the process of developing a turbo kit for a 996 a much easier install and more reliable. Keep us posted with the progress and take pics......

To change the injectors I dropping the engine a few inches really helped getting the tank out but no help with the injectors.

It is pretty easy to change the injectors from beneath. A mirror above the injectors allows you to see what your doing.

Thanks, I drove the car agaqin last night and I'm close to the first 100 miles. With the top down you can hear the SC spool up and down. VERY COOL!! The driveability of the car is excellent in any type of traffic. I'm ready to drive it like I stole it. Pulls smooth with out any delay in throttle response. Going to run some freeway time tonight

Nice! I could only imagine the feeling of a SC 996. I would love to experience the mild heart attack and shakes from the rush
