Tiptronic Muffler Bypass???
Hey everyone,
I have a 2000 996 Carrera Cabriolet, TIPTRONIC. It is currently stock (except seats). I have been looking into getting a muffler bypass mod, prolly the one off ebay for 150 (fabspeed to exp.). I read in another forum somewhere tho that the muffler bypass only sounds good on a stick and that on the tiptronic it sounds dif. and annoying?? anyone have a take on this?? thanks

Cool thanks for the thoughts. So i guess i won't be doing the bypass with the tiptronic, but it sounds like the best route would be to get a pair of aftermarket mufflers. I have watched some youtube videos but I am in australia right now and quite busy so i cant go hear any in person.... Any thoughts on what brand(s) would sound nice on the tiptronic??
What do you have 123packman??

I have an '03 C4S with a tip. I did the Fister mod on this and it sounds great!! I want to do more, I don't know why. No drone, loud when I get on the gas, quiet when I want to be quiet. Now, this is the 3.6 and the Mk2 mod, the "J" pipe from the recessed cap in the front of the muffler to the outlet pipe. From what I understand, this doesn't quite do it on the 3.4 "cans". People seem to be happy with the Fister Mk 1 mod on the 3.4's. That is a 1 1/2 inch pipe between the incoming muffler pipe and the outlet pipe. Quite a bit of info on these threads. Good Luck
