Air intake adjust
Air intake adjust
Hello 6 speed people:
I have a 2004 C4S
Stock, under warrantee
I would like a bit more sound, performance.
Anything I can do to the air box, increasing the response, sound, performance WITHOUT the dealership giving me a hard time on the warrantee or causing any codes to pop up?
its my daily driver, so it has to be a plug and play with no issues.
Thanks in advance

I put in a complete K&N intake on my 03 4S, but mine isn't under warranty anymore so I don't know if it will void it.
Short of replacing your entire box, you could replace the standard paper filter with a K&N one and / or get the pipe from the box to the engine replaced with a fabspeed one.
Definately make sure though how each affects the warranty, as i'm not sure about that.

I have stock cats with bypass pipes and a K&N cold air intake.I think that those mods really woke up my 02 c4s.I don't know how the dealers feel about bypass pipes but I think Fabspeed advertises there sport exhaust won't void factory warranty and there's always Porsche sport exhaust.

you can put the EVOMs intake in 30 minutes or less and swap each time you take to the dealer. It may take a bit more if you're not used to removing, but for me after the 10th time I can swap them faster than filling up a tank of gas.
The sound will be so good you will keep on flooring it past 5500, when I hear that tornado open up it's like opening the gates of hoover dam.

I had the evo
It did not line up right on the early 996, it fit a freinds 997 perfect, there is a bracket in the lower left rear that needed to be bent out of the way, kinda pissed me off for all the money it cost. I am stock now never put the k/n on if I do I am changing the filter to a dry one. I tried the schnell that did nothing in my opinoin, right now I am stock with the hemholtz resonator blocked off.

hemholtz resonator blocked off?
"better sound"
is this somthing i can do?
will it toss out any codes?
Can you give me some How To tips?
There are a couple of ways to block off that part
Do a search and you will find them, but I just bought a hole plug from Napa auto parts( not sure if that is the exact name) it is a rubber plug with a washer on each end and a nut and bolt through the middle, if you tighten the nut the rubber expands and tightly fills the hole. For those concerned about this loosening the stock hose goes back on and the hose has a lip that sits on the washer and a hose clamp to keeps it secure. Cost is under 5 bucks and you get the sound of a fabspeed intake. Since it is argued what they actually do this is what I have for now. I had the EVO, schnell and a K/N in storage which I never installed. The car feels the same to me with each of the different ways I tried.

Lastly you should make sure that the pipe is lined up with the throttle body to maximize air flow. Simply because the pipe is connected on the silicon hose doesn't assure that the pipe is straight to the throttle body. If it is offset, it is a bad flow similar to the difference between a bored throttle body and a standard one.
The Fabspeed air intake works great, it makes power, sound, throttle improvement and its only a third of the cost of the EVO intake. They both work great and make a nice enhancement on the 996 in addition to making very similar Horsepower.
Thanks
