2002 C4S engine knock

Hi ,

I just bought my first Porsche a 2002 C4S .

When the engine is hot and I start the engine I ear a knock from the engine.

then after that it runs normally.

A friend of mine told me that's normal for a Porsche

Need your advice.

Thank you all

Sylvain

I have an '03 and don't have that problem. What exactly do you mean by knock? When does it happen.....when the engine first turns over? does it last for a few minutes then go away?

By chance did you have a PPI done before you bought the car?

I have a 02 c4s with 58k on the clock and I do not get this knock you mentioned. Can you try to pinpoint it a bit better. Does it only happen when the engine is hot and its restarted or does it happen on a first start of the day ?

Does it knock while you're turning the engine over or after it starts?

A bit of a "rattle" upon start up is OK -as the chain tensioners get oil pressure. I can't think of a knocking sound that'd be considered normal under any circumstances though...

thanks you for all your replies.

my engine knock while I start it only, not after , and only when the engine is hot.

As it's my first Porsche may be I think it's knocking an it's a normal vibration as another member talk to me here.

I will bring it to my local dealer

thank you again
