The old Skool front end bra for protection?? Trying to get some opinions on a yes or no?? Thanks..

 

Just my opinion here - don't do it. They really don't look very good especially on a modern Porsche car. If you're concerned about front end protection, have a clear bra professionally installed - that way your car will still keep it's beautiful lines. Again, just my 2¢... Happy Holidays...

I tried one on a BMW I had one time....it rubbed places in the paint on a long trip.

My 02 C4S had a clear bra installed before it left the dealership and the front end is still almost perfect at 40K miles.

 

Not on a modern car. Takes away too much of the design features. Fork up the money and go clear or nothing at all.

 

Before clear bra I used to wax the nose of my bimmer once a month in the winter and that seemed to help a lot.

 

After a bra damaged a second vehicle--I stopped using them.

Between trapping moisture which can discolor the paint, rubbing from wind fluttering, pulling hard across the paint putting them on and off, and trapping grit between the bra & paint -- it seemed better for the manufacturer than it was for me.

As many have mentioned, the traditional leather bras may end up doing more damage. One of the main reason is that the bra will block 100% of UV rays from the area being covered. If left on for an extended period of time, you may see 2 tone fading.

 

i had one that i use to put on for long distance driving (350+ miles from sf to la). since my car was black, it definitely served its purpose from all the rocks and pebbles from the big rigs and wasn't "horrible" from the look aspect.

however, if you are thinking of keeping the bra on for daily use, i suggest clear bra all the way.
