Opinions needed on wheel colors......

I'm gonna have my stock 18" turbo twists on my black 99 996 painted/powder coated. I've been locking at a lot of threads here and have found a few with a black 996 with black stock rims. I have a good idea how my car will look with the black on black. I'm also thinking about doing a graphite/ gunmetal type color instead of black and I'm just looking to solicit some opinions and hopefully a picture or two of a black 996 with the stock 18"s painted graphite/gun metal. I'll also be appreciative of any black 996 with stock 18's painted black, maybe there's a car or two I haven't seen. Thanks.

In MY opinion, black wheels look way too "ghetto" and will seriously hamper your resale abilities as it's not on the "tasteful" side of modifications. If you must change wheel colors, in MY opinion, you would want a good contrast between the color of the car and the color of the wheels. I.e. - black car = silver/stock color wheels. Having said that, I DO think that "graphite/gunmetal" wheels color is very nice and would be a plus to me on any car color.

Great comment here. Also keep in mind if you are painting your calipers how it would match or show through as well.

Some good ideas, thanks. I kinda agree about the black on black. Most days I'm not a huge fan but there are times when I like it. I'm either going to have the rims done black with a polished lip with red or yellow calibers or the gun metal look with red or yellow calibers, I'm leaning toward the gun metal look with red calibers. I wish I could find a 996 here with that exact look. No luck so far.

Either way, thanks for the input. It's much appreciated!

Try the Wheel Enhancement (Culver City, CA) internet site. They may not have the exact rim that you are considering, but they do have pictures of their rims on different colored Porsches. This may give you some perspective on what it would look like. Hope this helps

Sorry for the delay but honestly the weather hasn't been great. Anyways here are the standard factory wheels painted black. Centre caps and tyre caps also have been done in black.
Not a lot of contrast all blacked out, giving the impression that its not your "dads" porsche.

Thank you I appreciate it. The car looks real good. I'm definitely going for the red calibers. Let me ask you a couple of things 1) what kind of finish did you use on the wheels? 2) Are you using spacers on your wheels to make the car look more aggressive? Once again, the car looks sleek. Nice job.

I simply painted the wheels the same colour as the car itself. I just ordered Porsche paint and had them use that (no need to colour match) Its a c4s so its wide body .. dont need spacers.

Id like to paint the exhaust tips black as well in hight temp paint of course and I know you can get all red tail lights for a 997 I wonder if they make them for the 996 ? I think it would lool nicer without the clear tail lens.
