spring time's coming, and a young man's mind turns towards TRACK days!!

last year was my first year with the car, and when i took it to Watkins Glen International, with its high speed turns, i found myself hanging on for dear life in the stock seats with my stock belts.

it was suggested that i add a supplemental lap belt. Rennline has connectors, one attached to the seat, tunnel side, and one attached to the floor. it seems that since these use the same connecting points as stock belts, would not they have the same lack of control?

Does anybody have any experience with a supplemental belt? and their mounting points?

In most PCA regions, 4 point is not allowed. And I have never seen anyone with a 2 point at a DE. I seriously doubt they will be allowed. You will probably be required to have equal restaints, so be prepared to buy 2 of whatever you get.

For safety reasons, you should ALWAYS have a sub belt. And in order to use 5 or 6-point harnesses, you will need proper seats (with pass throughs) and a roll/harness bar.

I think the only car that you could get away with a 4-point setup is a Lotus.

Your only other option (IMO) is to use a CG-lock with some drawer liner. It will hold you in better then 3-point, but nowhere close to proper harnesses.

Without installing a full roll bar and harnesses, your best bet with the stock belts and seats would be to try the CG-Lock.

I used one for autocross and it works pretty well.

I have an extra one if you are interested.

I use something similar to the CG-Lock, basically it's a small piece of metal that looks like an H that I got from my kids car seats.

I just have it attached both parts of the shoulder belt (from the C-pillar down and from the C-pillar around your body). It basically just locks the belt into that position.

I'm not sure where to get it without buying a kid seat, but I'm sure that it's out there. Here's what it looks like.

I've used it a few times for track days at Pocono - for the price - it's definitely works!

I second the CG_Lock, look for it online, if I recall it was ~$40. Best money you'll spend to solve your problem...
