question about new battery
question about new battery
ok, so i had to replace my battery. the new battery i bought does not have a connector for that clear oe vent tube. my friend told me that is because the oe porsche battery was designed so that you could add water to it, therefore, they included that vent with the tube. he said my new battery is completely sealed and you cannot add water so therfore i dont need to use that clear tube. is this correct? i dont want to drive it and screw something up. thanks in advance.
Without the tube, your battery will release any built up pressure by violently exploding when you're driving at high speeds!! JUST JOKING.
You will be fine. Buy the cheapest battery you can find. You can get it at Sams Club for $50.

Do not know what is a salvo battery. 12 volts is 12 volts and amps is amps as far as I'm concerned.
After almost 6 years of Boxstering I have seen just about every kind of battery you can get in the car, including ones that do not have a vent tube.
Never understood the need for a vent tube when the battery is not inside the cockpit or a very enclosed area. My first car had a battery behind the front seats.
There may be a tube for your battery, however, that was not given to you unless it is a true sealed unit.
If my picture show up it is a battery in a Boxster with no vent tube and no provision for a vent. The picture was taken several years ago and I think the owner and car is still alive.
