Well, yes... and no: The fact is that the covers are not very popular. With exceptions, they generally do not achieve the effect desired. The pic that you linked is pretty good though.
I bought some about a year ago but I still haven't put them on. I remember a post over on rennlist & it seems like everybody was trashing them (996 trying to look like a 997 & so on) I actually thought they look good but like I said I still haven't put them on! jmo
I realize this conversation is over a decade old lol but I just came across it No idea what became of this. Here's what I did just incase anyone else is looking for ideas or modifying there 996. 🤷♂️ I wasn't trying to make it look like a 997 my goal was to accentuate the iconic 911 headlight shape inside the 996 headlights. They are a clear 1 piece no seams outside, black inside bucketsbbecause of my cars colors and are high/low headlight only housings. I have dual function parking/turn signals sequential lights in the grill and side markers. They plug into the factory harness and install exactly as oem lights do. Not for everyone I'm sure but I didn’t build my car for anyone but me and I love them.

Amazing. Looks fantastic, but I gotta know more about what’s powering your stereo. Custom Android auto app via BT OB2?
Thanks I have made a couple different sets since I posted that lol. But yes, when I bought my 997 it had the PCCM installed and it was one of the few disappointing aspects of that car. For this car I looked for an android unit that I liked the physical looks of, wanted minimal buttons no *****, found that one for under 100 bucks. Than did a jailbreak and upgraded processor, added a terabyte of storage/flash drive. You can find everything on eBay, Amazon, Aliexpress and YouTube videos on how to. I did 2 far more complicated ones in my diesels for monitoring and this was far less complicated but still more what I need and use. Funny thing is the Bluetooth is faster and more responsive than my instrument cluster really noticeable on tachometer. It's been a blast learning and trying things with this car. Few newer videos. 🤟🏁
