Thinking of Buying a Used 996 - What Would My Running Costs Be?

I think you should consider NET maintenance over what other car you'd buy.
After 20K and 18 months ownership, I've found my 03 cab (purchased with CPO and 17K miles) to be much more reliable than the new/leased Caddy STS-V it replaced. Although the Caddy was under warranty, it broke far more often and I was stuck driving a pontiac $#itbox (GM's idea of a loaner for an $80K car) for over two months total during the lease while I waited for parts from GM.
Cost of Porsche parts are high, but so are any performance car.
I've had a high reliability - relatively low cost (for a performance car) experience.
