When the suspension is more active...it is only then when you notice that it's stiffer.

It's obvious your car is not a daily driver....there has been good feedback posted. Pull the trigger
I'm so tempted to just pull the trigger on this one...

Thank you guys for all the detailed input and feedback. I'm more knowledgeable now to decide on which one I'm gonna do.

yes, this forum has a classified section. it is for all vehicles, not just 996, so you have to get out of the 996 section.

Hi Guys,

As a newbie I'm not sure if I can just chime in on this thread with a question of my own but since it's related to your topic I figured I'd give it a shot.

I've got a '04 C4S with stock sport suspension, however the roads up here are so terrible that it's killing me and my Porsche!

So I'm looking to drop the car by 1" and get a softer suspension (yes sacrilege!!).
I know... the 2 seem to be mutually exclusive but I figured you guys might have some insight.

Cheers,

Sid.

If you review forums, you'll end up looking at PSS9's. They are adjustable and MORE comfortable than stock.

PSS10's and a B&M SS should be mandatory upgrades for all 996's.

Totally agree PSS9s are more comfortable than stock and height can be adjusted to whatever suits you. Given 10 softest to 1 stiffest, my car is still very comfortable at my current setting of 3 front and 4 rear and our roads here aren't good either.

You can shop around for a used set of PSS9s or a new set of PSS10s. You can indeed get both stance and performance (ride & handling).

Thanks guys!

I'm going to look into that.

BTW, those are some absolutely beautiful rides you've got there!

Cheers,

Sid.

TechArt's springs have a nice drop, they're at least 1.25". However, I suggest waiting a bit and going with a set of used 6GT3 coilovers.

I've had a Porsche mechanic and a performance shop tell me PS9s don't work well at all here in Montreal, too stiff for our roads. Any feedback about this would be really appreciated. Thanks.

PSS9s are adjustable. They can be as soft as stock or stiffer. In fact, they ride better than stock even at the stiffer setting. We have bad roads too but the PSS9s ride really well......and I have 19" wheels. I never felt I made the wrong decision when it comes to ride quality and my Lexus-driving wife didn't even notice if there was any ride deterioration at all because there really isn't any.

I haven't butit's just me. It takes me months to research and couple of weeks to think it through. I ended up lowering my other car instaed since I've been researching that application for months before this....

The good thing now is I'm better equipped and more comfortable on whatever my decision will be because of all the usefull comment's I received in this thread. I'll update this thread with pics when I lower my 996.
