expiring extended warranty
expiring extended warranty
My extended warranty is expiring soon and I was just wondering if it' still available to get one or that's it. Car is a '99 Cab with 49k on it. I called one dealer and I was told they stop giving extended warranties for cars older than 10 years. One dealer also referred me over to Total shield who would still cover warranty on the car but was expensive; $3200n for a yr. or $4800 for 4 yrs. Do you think it's still advisable to get one, although i'm a bit hesitatnt because of the cost, or do I just eat it. Any ideas would be appreciated.
just bought a 3 year/ 36k EasyCare full exclusionary warranty for 3700 at a local Porsche dealer (for my 03 Carrera with 54k miles). I called every dealer within 100 miles, and that's the best I could get. PM me for details.
Was your car already out of any warranty before you purchased the extended? I don't have warranty anymore and i'm hearing you need an existing warranty in order to purchase an extended warranty.
yes, it was out of warranty. You only need to be in-warranty if you want to extend factory warranty. If you go aftermarket, with many plans (such as Fidelity or EasyCare), you don't have to have existing warranty.
When did you get it and with who? I was told by Rector and Sonnen that they don't offer extended warranties for cars 10 years and older.

stated care = $ 3950 for 3 yrs/36K, $250 deductible
powercare (below) plus
suspensions
steering
electrical
high tech/convenience group - e.g. power steering, oil pumps, etc.
powercare = $ 2877 for 3 yrs/36K. $250 deductible
engine
transmission
drive axles

What do you think? I'm leaning towards powercare since my main objective is the engine and transmission although any other repairs would also be costly...thanks..
