api3517: be careful about adding too much horsepower to a standard tiptronic transmission. The Turbo Tiptronic transmission is a completely different tranny which is designed to handle the added horsepower. I really do not know what the Horspower rating on the standard Tiptronic, but I would be leary of adding too much horsepower to that tranny.

Yes thank you, I have been thinking about that. Still up in the air on what to do.

These two sites should provide the answer:

Porsche rims (select Felgengwichte in the left hand menu):

I have done it all. I like the VF supercharger because it drives like NA until upper RPMs and will give you a definite change in the seat of the pants. Be aware you will be "stuck" with the car forever which is ok with me. If I had to do it again I would have got a TT. Will

Agree with Wyo. If you plan on keeping the car, see if you can swing a VF. That, along with suspension changes gives you outstanding performance.

Lot of mythology out there. Keep the boost reasonable and use the right octane and you'll be fine. The kits are well engineered and matched to the capability of the engine. When I first got my 996, I thought every engine would have a RMS or IMS failure based on the posts. The data doesn't support that position. The engines are rather reliable.
