Supercharger for 99 with cable throttle?

Hello, does anyone know if any of the companies making a supercharger make one for a 99 996 tiptronic with cable throttle? I have heard they don't or they do with modification. Need to buy one very soon!!
Thanks
Al

I read from one of the manufacturers that although they do not officially support it, they have made it work if they did the install themselves (I think it was VF). This was regarding tips, don't recall about e-gas vs. non e-gas.

However, consider the stress you'll put in the transmission. I have not found any articles on this issue other than the turbo trannie is sturdier than the one in the regular carreras. I am talking about tiptronic cars. Trannies are made by Mercedes and there were 3 or 4 models, with the Turbo receiving the strongest of them all.

I have looked into it as I have a 99 c2 tip... right now I am more inclined to gain performance through weight savings to avoid stressing the transmission. I just rebuilt the engine after failure maybe this makes me extra careful.

Let us know what you find out regardless.

Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. I have done all the possible upgrades since I only track the car. I have stripped it out added the pss9 coilovers with sway bar and links. Headers with x-pipe and no mufflers - very loud! Plenum and K&N airflow. It stinks that the car has Tip but thats what I was dealt. I'm in the process of adding a cool paddle shifter with a quick release and steering wheel. First one sold in the U.S. Came new from Japan. Should help out on the track to keep me in the power band coming out of the turns. Was looking into getting some HP for the straight aways but will see. Also, just a got a wide body kit to get some thicker rubber on the ground.

Do you have pics? It sounds very cool.

Regarding the shifting with a tip...I hear you about it being slow. I have been told that an ECU remapping would make it snappier or quicker... I don't know. I like the idea of paddles, the fvd steering wheels seem like the way to go although expensive. I think Gemballa uses them as well at least they look the same to me.

Regarding the tip. You might try the turbo and supercharger guys and talk to them about the tip. The fact is that there is not a lot of info out there regarding the issue as almost nobody wants to bother with tiptronics. Yet again, and not being the heavy duty turbo trannies, it is a MB trannie... otherwise bulletproof. Worth giving the upgrade guys a call. And, share findings I have a tip!

Just look at the sponsors on right, I think pretty much all there. All good. Need to evaluate differences between supercharging and turbocharging as well.

what did you remove exactly to save weight on Tip 996? I plan on removing the back seats as well. I removed spare tire, jack (55lbs), 6CD Changer with bracket, (12lbs) extra panels in trunk(3lbs) so far. I have a 01 tiptronic too, although I swear my car is fast as hell for a tip I blew the doors off a 04 Cobra Mustang the other day and burned a 07-08 Maserati with 22 rims on the highway over 100mph I pulled ahead by 9 car lengths! My car is stock too. Weight is the secret. I want to get 0-60 in the high 4 sec range. right now I'm guessing 0-62mph in low 5 sec.

Suggestions:
- Light wheels.
- Stay with 18s vs. 19s.
- Light battery, http://www.suncoastparts.com/category/braille.html
- Exhaust, aftermarket, they are lighter than oem.

The only thing left in the interior is the drivers seat. Everything else is gone including door panels this week. I guess if I cant catch them in the straightaways I will have to out brake and out corner those high horse power cars. Don't get me wrong, still has plenty of speed!! Weight and handling is very important besides HP on the track.

Why supercharger? Linear power?
TPC and IMA have turbochargers for 10k ish. Not sure if they've done one for DBC though.

this might seem a little left field but why dont you take your supercharger money and stick in a manual gearbox to replace the tip?
you would get way more performance control than the added supercharger power will give you, especially if you are tracking.
there should be plenty of options for picking up the parts and breakers will have everything you need in plentiful supply. pick up a LWFW while you are on it to replace the one on your tip engine and you should be good

Good idea and I thought about it to but also very expensive and not easy to do. Im trying to work with what I got. Im shying away from the supercharger because of the expense and waiting for the single turbo kit to come out in a few weeks and see the expense. I saw my paddle shifters installed with the quick release and suede steering wheel today - looked awesome!!! First one in the U.S. to get it installed. Second one sold, other one is in Australia. New product from Japan for guys with tiptronic. Its so new there are no part #'s or instructions in english but the guys at Flat 6 Motorworks did a great job. Should be great at the track. Ill let you guys know how it performs later next month. Thanks for the replies!!!
