I was a passenger in a RangeRover in France once doign about a 100 when a pidgeon flew across the road and straight into the windshield.
The outcome was as if someone had stood on the hood and shot the windshield with a shotgun. Just a massive round shattered impact. The inside layer of windshield sprayed ultra-fine glass on everyone in the car. Pidgeon wasn't very happy about it either.
