As im playing with my car a little bit I'm wondering what everyone else thinks is most important to do first to their 996. Where did you start?

What are you looking at? Interior? Exterior? Performance?
Performance wise, I'd go FI or just keep it simple such as a intake/good filter and exhaust. Other than that suspension.

Suspension, Tires, Driving School.

There are idiots that don't know what to do with 300hp, let alone 500+ hp. Then you have guys that can run circles around other drivers with just 200+hp.

The little that you get from intake/exhaust isn't necessarily going to make you any faster. If you're doing it for sound perfomance, then that's another story...

really depends on what your priorities are. in my case, when i got my car, the alpine headunit that came with it really sucked, so that was the first one to go. first, replace those that irritate you. then go with something that you want improved. i went with wheels/tires, then suspension to get the stance. then worked on the interior as that is where i spend most of my time driving.

first thing i did with my 02 996 C2 was get the X-74 Porsche suspension from Gert. Thats 3 yrs ago and i just love the way it handles and sits- perfect- not
to low and not to harsh.

Driving school is a great "first" mod!

But other than that, anything that improves your driving experience would be a good choice. In my case, a short shift kit and upgraded suspension would be my first choices.

Like most people that have 996s for a while, I did a boatload of mods. Everything from bodykit to wheels, tires, suspensions (yup, plural), new engine, sound system, woofers, speakers, hardwiring things here and there, short shifter, racing components and alignment/setup, etc. etc.

It really depends on what you want to accomplish and what your wallet will allow. Everything takes time and money.

Start a wishlist for your car and cross things off as you move along. And enjoy the ride [pun intended]

Next to a super/turbocharging it SUSPENSION! It totally transforms the car! Compared to a similarly priced upgrade of a chip, intake , exhaust, it changes the car so much more. When I did the suspension it felt like a totally different new car!

I tend to start with the little things first and than see what comes along and tickles my fancy.

Clear side markers are the easiest, cheapest thing to do. If your car is a 6speed a short shift kit or a 997 unit is a great upgrade. Power mods are a never ending pursuit. As soon as you complete and get that little rush from a few more HP's you get used to it and want more. Lowering springs are a relatively cheap mod that will stiffen the somewhat mushy stock suspension and give the car a more aggressive looking stance.

One of the reasons a love these cars is that there are lots of options out there and almost no two cars are alike.

Mine came with aero kit and IPD plenum. I started with the little things and I'm pretty much done except for some wheels.
Interior-all bulbs in LED, removed rear seats.
Exterior-clear sides with LED, xenons.
Performance-either go TPC turbo or just do minor things for a little weight saving and sound. I'd be lucky if I picked up 30whp with full bolt ons and that would run 5-6k. I just did a cheap intake(70 bucks) with plenum and AH mufflers. Sounds great and lost some wieght.
Suspension-H&R with Bilstein sports.
By removing spare, rear seats and mufflers, I probably lost 50 pounds or so.
I'd like to pick up some light wheels and maybe some light seats but thats about it.
