remotetop installed!
Finally got my remotetop installed, working in conjuction with the smarttop. Well, it took an extra day as it didn't work on the first install attempt only to find out that the battery had to be disconnected before putting the chip in. Then it worked after that process. So far so good. None of the issues I've read in some posts here and in renntech and rennlist. My indy was able to program all five functions that I wanted. Door unlocks upon key out. One-touch roof operation on the remote (one-touch is a function of the smarttop; without it, the remote button had to be pressed until the roof completes its cycle). Horn honks upon remote lock/unlock. Security sensors work when car is parked and locked with the top down.
Except for one thing that I would like to ask those who already have the remotetop. When I lock/unlock the car with the use of the remote, the windows would go down around 0.25"-0.50" of an inch then up again while the doors are still closed. It's like when you open the door, the windows go down a bit, then up again when the doors are closed. Does this sound normal?

Hope this helps.
hmmmmm, after some observation, it looks like it is only the driver's door that does that window drop.
used the remotetop several times yesterday and only once did it falter.......the driver's side window didn't come down when i was doing a demo to a fellow 996 owner. it was faultless the rest of the night though.
the unlocking upon key removal is a great convenience. the horn chirps upon locking/unlocking is also a great feature. no need to turn back and check on the flashing signal lights and see if the doors are indeed locked as the 996 remote has only a very short range which requires rechecking if the doors are locked or not.
