Forgot to mention: Just saw you're in CO, so don't forget the Turbo will give you AWD = fun in the snow!

Turbo. Performance, reliability and resale value.

Try driving both and decide for yourself (if you can find a supercharged one for sale of course)

I would never get a bold on kit... they will never be able to do the r&d Porsche does. Turbo is the right way to go

Have you ever driven a Porsche with a bolt on supercharger/turbo kit? because I know plenty of companies, not necessarily for Porsches, that are waaayyy better than factory. In this situation I would personally go with the 911 turbo, but superchargers in general have a smoother torque curve (except Porsche's new variable vane turbos, but that's another story) and some people prefer that so I don't think it's fair to discredit aftermarket forced induction companies.

I have a 99 996 and have had the TPC SC Kit on it. It has a flawless 24k on the kit without one single glitch. The power is instant and I have a great deal of fun with the stock turbo guys. They are instantly pissed off.

I have a buddy with a new 997 that wants to do a little video of a run and I told him I would point the camera backwards on my rollbar to as it was the only way he would make it in the video when he gets passed.

To each his own though. I do appreciate the "factory purist" position on the turbo's though. I was leaning that way but got into this car with the car and over 100k in mods for a very decent price.

Get the Turbo. Unless you really want a narrow body with forced induction...

Seriously, why would you end up paying the same amount of money to get a weaker engine? The turbo's engine has the GT1 block, which has real dry sump, which is better.
I think the Turbo / Supercharger kits make sense if you already have the Carrera and want more power. But if you decide pre purchase, get the turbo.

I always find it funny when people describe a 996 as a sleeper. Except for the few of us who have Porsches, no one else knows the difference between models and model years. And certainly not the cop who's writing the ticket.

I say get the turbo btw. Good luck either way - you'll have a lot of fun!!

My advice is find a stock TT. Less chance for anything failing and costing you a fortune to repair.

I vote to get the TT for all the above mentioned reasons. But also consider that a few years down the road, when you're craving even more power, you can mod the hell out of the Turbo for a few hundred more HP

Agreed. My 996 has the MkI aero kit with wing on the back. I think the only people who might consider it a "sleeper" are blind.

OP: if I was in your position, I'd go with the turbo.
