New here, eyeing a 996 and have a question

Hi everyone,

New to these forums and I'm looking for my first 911.
Here's my question:

I have found a 911 and it does not have any warranty, it is from an independent dealer and I'd like to know what I can do to get a good warranty on it. I know it cannot be certified if not purchased from a Porsche dealer.

Are there any aftermarket warranties that you have experience with that are good?

Thanks,
Ted

have you had a PPI done?
that is a routine suggestion for anyone serious about a car.

after i had mine done, i was able to adjust price of the car for repairs (to "minor" items) to bring it up to standards.

be prepared to spend some on doing that. lots of switches, etc that seem to go wrong.

Any more info on the car? Year, model, options, miles, mods? What about service history?

2003 C2 Cabriolet.
it seems to have most options other than Navigation.
37K Miles.
I will check tomorrow about the service history but the carfax and Autocheck reports show that the last owner purchased it with 9K miles and Certified by a Porsche dealer (It had 2 previous owners-total). It also says that at various intervals the standard scheduled maintenance was performed on it but no details.
The current dealer is an independent Exotic car dealer that specializes in Ferraris and Porsches. They have their own mechanic on the premises.

Never have "their" mechanic PPI. Take it somewhere else for a PPI. Maintenance history is important but remember its still a 7 year old car. Despite the low miles, just keep in mind AOS, water pump, shocks, plugs may need to be addressed along with IMS/RMS.
