2002 headlight
2002 headlight
Guys, I was driving at night last night, and noticed one headlight is shining really low...this morning, opened it up, found that one of the pivot points is broken, and the internal basically fell down and faced down.
I was able to attach it back to the working pivot, but one of em is broken.
Do you guys know if they sell the internals of the headlight? It's a 2002, with the bixenon option, so i'm guessing it's way over 1500 for a headlight assembly.
Thanks,
dave

can you get the back cover off the headlight assembly and reach in there far enough to replace the broken piece or get the culprit out and carefully superglue it back together? I had a loose piece on my drivers side that had just come "undone" and was able to pop it together with a little love.
probably
I'll play with it, see if I can take it apart, it looks like i can if i recall correctly. I just know i have to fix it soon, otherwise the other pivot will break as it's holding all the weight on that one.
1st Q for help: owned my 2004 C4S since new, here in FL. Headlamp plexon shows a minor coating & just doesn't look new anymore. Bought some plastic polisher. Conventional wisdom says lightly polish repeatedly ocer time. Any other thoughts
polish kits work okay, but the 3M Headlight Kit available locally rocks. Various grits of sandpaper, polishing pads, drill extension etc. follow the directions exactly, don't panic after the first step and your lights will look new when you are done. I did it on some litronics I bought off ebay that were supposed to be 10/10 condition wise and they looked like crap when they showed up. 3M is the way to go, two years ago and still looking great.
Really appreciate that. The polish I have came from Griot's Garage. It's mediocre for the cost....
I assume the 3M Headlight Kit is availble on-line. Do you have a source site?
Thanks again for your earlier reply

all good though...there are tons of stuff out there for this. Even wall mart does the service for like $30 each light I think.

Here's how i did it
1. Take out the headlight using the removal tool in your tool pouch.
2. remove the black cover on the back, 2 screws next to 2 clips and undo it.
3. I only unplugged the wire to the little self leveler, and pulled all the wires out of the little clip that holds it in the middle
4. unplug the self leveler, and remove it by taking the 2 torque screws off, and then angle it out of the track, 1st picture.
5. in the 2nd picture below, there's 1 screw on the side that faces into the center of the car. Remove that with the torque driver.
6. in the next picture, you'll see that I pried and pulled, see the points I used to do this, and that whole black piece comes out giving you enough room to do what you need to do in there. Note that the 2 dots came out when i pulled the unit out, 4th picture. Just remember that when you put it back, these dots go in the same way, slide the unit almost all the way in, then put dots in, and then finish pushing the unit back into place. I didn't need to pull the entire thing apart, as I found that mine was not broken, and just fell out of the tracks. I did however notice, that if you wanted to take the thing apart, there are 4 torque screws at the bottom part of the internals which are bolted to the silver back parts of the internal, if you remove those 4 screws with a little finesse, you could take the whole thing out and apart.
7. All I did was pop it all back together and all was good.
Good luck man.

dave, actually the bulb on the side of the lens is the one that is dim, is that the main headlight bulb, when i put the brights on, then the bulb in the middle came on, & i noticed neither of the bulbs on the inside of the lens came on, inside i mean the 2 seperate small lens closest to the trunk, do you understand what i'm TRYIN to say.
Johnny, you've successfully confused me
OK, since your a picture guy, here goes. See picture.
A=parking lamp, it is dim in nature, and stays that way
B=signal light, left/right, hazard, alarm arm/disarm
C=headlight, I have a bi-xenon. What that means is if it's on, and i hit the highbeam, something inside the projector deflects the lamp upwards or in normal mode just shines strait out
D=highbeam, this only comes on if my headlights are off, and I just flash the high beams.
Now, if your lights behave the way I've noted above, it's normal
