The Anniversary Edition 911 is a great car! You will not be sorry. Offer 40K and be willing to go to 42K, but get a warranty. However, just about everyone will agree that if they could get one, it would be a Turbo. The turbos are fast, comfortable and offer all the amenities that one could ask for. I agree with others, for a daily driver, I would prefer a few more miles, about 3K to 5K per year to keep the seals wet, the oil flowing and the "kinks" worked out of the car. In my 04 C4S, I have had the heated seat repaired, a new oil pressure sending unit, 3 batteries, cab roof fixed (twice), horn replaced, on board computer failure, front suspension loosening, all covered by the manufacture or the extended Porsche Warranty. All this work was done in the first 4 years of the car life. Also a car sitting around will also need tires, brake flush, and opther maintenance items that are time sensitive (vs miles)

I have a friend that bought a low mileage 997 cS for less than that. WAY high in my opinion.

For 50k, you can buy a low mileage 996 turbo and modify it to your liking

Guys - thanks for the explanation on the 40th anniversary package. All of those items seem like they could easily be bolted on a normal 996 (They make an x51 engine kit right?).

Anyway, I'm with everyone else - seems high for a non-turbo car despite the low mileage. Right now I'm sort of regretting NOT spending the extra money for a turbo when I bought my C2, but I am having loads of fun modding it to get somewhat close (I know, I know, it'll never get there, but...)

Good luck!

Turbo, or GT3 the best of the 996's in that price range; 40k-50k.

Have to admit that I'm a confused as to what exactly is in the X51 that creates the extra 20HP. From what I understand it's internal parts - cams etc that can't easily be swapped.

That said, in your price range I would *definitely* go with the turbo. The 996 turbo engine is more closely related to the air-cooled 993 and doesn't suffer from the same RMS/IMS issues that the regular carerras do. Oh, and the performance bump to 415HP is nice too. I love my X51, but believe me if my budget had allowed that's the direction I would have gone.

I know of at least one 02 turbo with moderate mileage currently for sale - asking 40K.
