slk55 is infamous around these parts
Post Possible Trade in? I have many questions.

Hello everyone,
I have owned a 2006 SLK55 AMG for about 10 months. In that time, I have driven about 7,000 enjoyable miles. However, a few downsides of my car are corrected in 911's. I do not like that my car is unavailable with a manual transmition and a back seat. Although a 911's back seat is not very big, the car overall has much more storage space than my SLK. Another major thing I like in the 911 is the availability of all-wheel-drive. This sounds like a very attractive feature, since my SLK was in storage during last year's winter. I was wondering how much my SLK55 could be worth on a trade-in. It is a rare white/black combination. It has about 45,000 miles, with the last major service 5,000 miles ago. Its most recent oil change and new tires have been done in the last 500 miles. However, the car will need new brakes up front sometime. I was wondering what kind of 911 experienced Porschefiles would recommend. I'm not a big fan of the 996 C4, but I think the C4S is decent, and I really like the 996TT. How much extra do you think it would cost to upgrade to a decent example of these fine sports cars. What kind or bills should I expect from routine and non-routine service? How much are the expensive wearable parts to replace (clutch, turbos, brake pads and rotors...)? Any advice whatsoever, including anyone familiar with both cars would be highly appreciated. Once again, thank you very much for an excellent forum and for your help.

Try http://www.edmunds.com/popupinfo/abouttmvprices.html for going trade-in prices in your area. Try selling it yourself with craigslist or ebay (local version), they're both free. If the Porsche you are considering has 19" rims, tires are big expense. $300 to $500...each. Oil changes are $250+ at the dealer.
