Installed Aftermarket Headunit, Have Issues, Help Please!
I installed a Pioneer headunit in a friends 02 996 Coupe and am having a few issues now. I grounded the alarm "clip" that normally goes on the factory cage to the radio black ground wire and connected, power, remote, ground, and speakers to the headunit (cut off the connector and spliced). The headunit works great, sound is fine and coming out of all speakers however, I have a couple issues now that arose and I am not sure why or if they are even related.
1. The car will not accept gas. I checked the fuses and that is not it.
2. The car beeps when I lock it (as if something is open). The gas door doesn't lock (but it never has and never beeped).
Any ideas? The beeping I can understand may be from something I did wrong, but not taking gas? The beeping began immediately after, the gas he didn't notice for a couple weeks, but its his first fill-up since the install...

I don't know how a radio install would affect being able to fill your gas tank, but the beeping when you lock it is from not having the alarm wire on the radio properly wired. Mine does it and I've never fixed it. If you do a search hear you'll find the solution.
Put the stock radio back in and it fixed the beeping problem, however, the car still does not accept gas (as expected). Going to just leave the factory radio in. Unfortunately this car had a different wiring connector than any other 996 i've see and there was no harness for it so we had to cut and splice. I'm sure there is something in there thats wrong...
Thanks for the help guys!

The problem with the alarm beep is that you grounded the alarm clip, you have to do the opposite, you have to insulate it from ground, the same thing happened when i fitted my JVC unit, on the original Porsche unit there is a sticker where the wire touches the set, the idea being is if the stereo is removed, when sliding out of the frame the contact will slide over the sticker area then touch the metal on the stereo frame as it is sliding out, hence earthing and setting alarm off.
I just put a bit of insulation tape on my new stereo at the same place that it is on the original Porsche unit and all is good!
