That Bad?
Agree
I don't know maybe I am a good luck charm LOL, but I have nothing wrong with my 2001 911 works perfectly other than a broken sunroof button big deal close to $70 bucks to repair or less. I would worry more about paying for tires, alignment, and oil changes to tell you the truth.
i love mine too - also no regrets. I think you need to be somewhat wary of online comments. Most people who have never had any real problem don't go online to talk about their non-problems, however, people who are having problems *do* go online looking for solutions, advice, etc - so you tend to get a bit of a negative skew.
Thank you to all for your excellent feedback! Yesterday afternoon I put a deposit down on a 911 and I couldn't be more exited.
Gsieck, No need for your last post. Read the prior posts before you comment, that's why they put them in order. You weren't born knowing about Porsches and you've probably asked much less informed questions than "how reliable is it?"
You sound more like the Camaro guy to me... and everybody who reads this will smile to themselves and think you're a jackass.

. American vs. German I don't think so. Glad you put a deposit you won't regret it.
like others have said -- it really is a matter of what you find on the internet. People don't generally sign on to say "damn my porsche was awesome today" - they sign on to find out issues they may be having. I would think in general only 10% of what you read is actual problems. The rest of us are out enjoying our cars to the fullest. I've had mine (a 2003) for 2 years and have a couple of normal maintenance issues. The rest of the time it has been like any other used care you might buy. I would worry less about what you read on-line and concentrate more on the individual car you would be interested in buying and driving.
Look at the Delorean or Pinto - guaranteed you will find people who LOVE that car - but they were/are trashed by the general public and have terrible reputations. Its all perception.

With any car, you can get always get a lemon. The stories you hear are usually about the cars with problems. Do your homework and you should be OK - specially if it has a reasonable number of miles on it. If it was driven, the previous owner should have seen any major issues and corrected them long ago.
upgraded the ims, replaced the clutch and rms and drive it like I stole it. Plus 6 track days in the past 3 months. All with 105k miles on the clock.
I do need to bleed the brakes and should replace the pads before the next event.
