997SSK and SSLA billet link installation
Got a brake job today. All 4 corners total R&R. Flush w/BG ultra dry.
Got the 997SSK and billet link installed...
The 997SSK is amazing.
Thank G-d for the included green alignment tool. It is the great stabilizer.
When the SSLA billet shift link was installed I discovered something quite significant. When one attaches the link it should be screwed down to its shortest length, but even more importantly, before removing the previous (old) shifter put it in neutral, hold it there & mark the cables where the two plastic cable sheaths (black and blue) end... and then where they meet the plastic links.
The former is much more important than the latter... it is the ultimate tool for cable alignment/adjustment. In fact the marks near the shift links were almost useless...
Reverse mark came in handy, but link installation pretty much destroys continuity unless a mark was made right by the sheath as well.
No fuss installation. Worked perfectly right off the bat.
The combo of SSK and link is awesome.
Very very short travel in three of the gears and very short travel in the other three. The shift pattern is so tight it is hard to describe.
I think some people refer to it as "notchy", but this is exactly how shifting is supposed to feel... precise.
Have to drive now, 50 miles up IH-10 & 50 miles back, for the heck of it.
That is all...
