Buying Advice on 99 Cabrio
New member about to buy a 99 Cabrio. First Porsche, so I am a total noob. My brother is a dealer and is taking in a blue Cabrio with blue top with 7M verified miles. One owner car and is a well known family and customer of the dealership. All history verified. It was at their Arizona vacation home most of the time. I haven't seen the car in person, but he tells me it is a 10 in showroom condition. He is taking the car in at $25K and that is the price he is offering the car to me at. No RMS or IMS work done. No oil leaks are apparent. 6 speed.
Any thoughts on the car would be appreciated. Is the price right?
Thanks

how many miles? 7m?
Cab;s go for a little more, and mods don't usually increase the value.
depending on the mileage, that might be a fair price in my opinion.
make sure you have a PPI done at a reputable Porsche shop.
dont buy it without doing that. :-)

Unless you are looking for a collector car I woudn't add value for an extremely low mileage car.
In fact, under-driven cars tend to exhibit (relatively) more mechanical issues than a moderately driven car. Even the dreaded IMS issue *seems* to be more prevalent on ultra-low mileage examples - I say 'seems to be' as there is no quantitative assessment one way or the other, since there's really no issue ;-)
25K for a 99 cab (even a well maintained 99) seems high. I bought an 03 cab this summer for less than that.

I think there are some people on this board that are really sucessful grinders re: the price they paid for their cars, so they think the steal they got on their car is the norm.
People that have showroom condition-like cars, with really low miles, want to be compensated for those attributes. Can't imagine my brother buying the car for 25 and selling to you at a loss.
Agree with Fozzy, low mileage translates to "under used". PPI no matter what.

Your brother will find a buyer for the car because someone out there is looking for a mint 996 that they want to keep in showroom condition. That may be you. If *that's* what you're looking for than 25K is likely not a bad price. If, on the other hand, you're looking for a reasonably problem free car to drive (showroom sticker not required) than you can find much better deals.
And for what's worth I would never buy a car from family or friends
