Engine replacement question

I was wondering what everyone's opinion was on the value of a car that has had its engine replaced. Would the value decrease by quite a bit when selling it? If you have any experiences selling or buying a car with a replaced engine please share.

Thanks,
Kunal

i don't think will. look at it this way, the newly replaced engine is better than the one that failed .

if you are talking of a 996, these cars are not collectors cars so mismatched numbers are not gonna make a difference.

i had a boxster with a replaced engine and the dealer didn't care that the engine wasn't original. he would have shafted me with the trade either way.

Just had my engine replaced and I asked all over, NO ONE said a new engine would lower value of car. It may not raise the value but other Porsche enthusiasts said they would consider it a positive when deciding on buying a car.

A replaced engine includes almost everything, It is not like on other cars where they only change parts of the engine and then call it a new or replaced engine.

My car had a new engine because of a suddenly main seal leak which blew the engine.

Anyway I drive around in a 80.000 km car with a 40.000 km engine now. I look at it this way. I just got 40.000 km for free.

Don´t be sade about the replaced engine, some Porsche people even says they are much better compared to the "normal" engine because they are sampled on Porsches engeniring place

The 996 can newer be a collectors item, for that there are way to many.

So in straight words........If people thinks it lowers the cars value it must be because they don´t know S.... about Porsche.

For the record, I always shy away from buying a used car with a replaced engine.

Mine was replaced too and I asked the same question. Everyone said it was good or didn't matter. I plan on keeping the car for some time (at least 10 years). I don't think it will matter by then.
