996 automatic as a DD
When I was looking for a 996, I was trying to concentrate my search on one that had a recent engine swap.. I ended up finding mine with around 1k miles on a new engine and warranty so that settled my worries. It it a tip and I am still torn about that. Its great when I drive in city traffic but I miss the "connection" you have with a manual. If it was a DD toy only then the tip wouldn't bother me at all.
Okay, I have driven and know the "connection" of a manual, but TIP is great too.
I do get that connection with TIP now. After several months and learning all the tricks and feel to it, frankly I do not miss the manual anymore. Just my 2 pennies.

Thanks guys. I own a couple other cars that are sticks so I can still take them out when I want to rip through the gears.
I was looking at a 1999 that has 51K miles on it with the original engine. Do you think that I should look for one that has a replaced engine?
