It is likely that your factory muffler "o" clamps will be rusted and will break when you attempt to remove them. Do yourself a favor and order a new set from FabSpeed before you do this job. They are great and worth the $60. Use lots of Liquid Wrench, especially on the brackets that hold the mufflers to the cats. Easy job overall, just have to deal with the brackets and clamps. I did not remove my rear wheels, but maybe because I have a C4S there was more room for them to drop right out. Good Luck!

Update - Soaked the nuts with PB Blaster last weekend. Today I was able to loosen one of the cat nuts, but the other is stuck and rounded. I bought a Craftsman socket set that's supposed to grab rounded nuts but it's still not working. They didn't have a metric set so I tried the SAE set figuring it won't make much of a difference since who knows what the dimensions are now. Any other ideas before I bring it to the shop?

Do you have room to get a cut off wheel in there? If so, go to Menards and get "Tool Shop" brand for $15. One of the most useful and cheapest electric tools I've bought that has repeatedly paid for itself over and over.

I think cutting it off is my only option at this point. There are no Menards around here, but Ace or Home Depot may have something similar.

I have the car up on Rhino Ramps which gives me about a foot of clearance under the cat pipe.

Yep, cut the bolt and just relace it with another using the same clamp.

1-2-3 Boomph! 1-2-3 Boomph! You're not Boomphin' right Norton!

After 4 months and about $200 in new tools, I finally have the second side finished.
Bad weather, vertigo, and a stripped cat clamp bolt delayed the process but I'm very happy with the results. Vrooom!!!!

Want to turn a $300 project into an $800 project? Ask me how.
