And so you know the glare on the mesh is from the flash on my camera!!!!
Have you had it out in the sun yet? I don't think anyone is trying to hurt your feelings, I think it's more of a tough love kind of thing....being a little abrasive so that you'll change your mind, keep the car looking "nice", and ultimately save you and the car from a lot of embarrassment. Just my thoughts.

+1 I have to tell you the fit and finish IMHO just isn't up to what you should do on a car like this. If you look at how mine is done, it's in there very tight and fits perfectly. Yours just isn't in there very well. If you had it professionally done, then I bet it would look a lot better. That's all.

It's your car, do what you want, but I think that's really what people are saying. It's about fit and finish.

HAHA would be funny if I put chicken wire in my car. But, sorry to ruin your joke by informing you its not! It was purchased from a local custom car shop! Nice try though. As for the ones that gave me constructive criticism, thank you! I do take into consideration your opinions and ideas and I will look into what else I can do for it. The middle grill is also silver like the outer grills. Its just the picture that makes it look like it is black.

As for Mr. Deezy (or whatever the hell you call yourself) that comment was just ridiculous. You must be bored sitting around also. But, I can see what your problem is in your old age! It must suck getting older, all senile and what not! Scary thought to know your kicking heavens door down. Gotta wear depends to bed and all that. Must be a b**ch wetting the bed every night..... So, I can sympathize !! I can see were you get off on putting other people down. Tonight while your dressing yourself in your diapers for bed I will be out with my "chicken wire" enjoying my young life! So as far as I am concerned you and anyone else on here that goes around putting other peoples ideas down can kiss my young a**!!!...

Now don't take this personal people.....it's just tough love!!!

oh... and here is a couple photos of the car outside the garage. Id have to say it looks mean to me!

I think they bubble out a little bit too much. Here's a pic of someone who used his original grille as a frame with the mesh wire. Makes the fit and finish a little better.

If you think it looks good, then that's all that matters.. Like I said before, good job. I paid 150 for the ones I got. I don't have the patience to do stuff like that. You can always paint them, and if you don't like that, do it again. People that post stuff like that have other issues, don't take it personal, just feel sorry for them... however, if he was your close friend, it would have been funnier. It was funny, but I don't think he took into consideration all the work it took.... now go make a real chicken cage... LOL

Wire n Chickens and diapers!!! Oh My! Were off to see the wizard....

I do like the idea, your fit and finish is a little on the rough side and the contrast is not my cup of tea. Its your ride enjoy it!

FWIW, if you look at these cars up close and in real life, a lot of them do use plastic grills that are often mistaken for metal grills.

Do you not like the 40th anniversary look with the painted factory grills as someone posted? I think that would look great and still achieve the contrast that you're after.

BTW, NR Auto sells 996 turbo bumpers with the mesh grill as standard and OEM grills as a $450 option. If you really want to stick to the mesh look, you could always sell your OEM grills to offset the cost.

Mesh

I like it - congrats.
Contrary to the popular belief of some these cars were not made perfect and Porsche has always encouraged personalization.
If you get bored with the silver maybe guards red?

mod mike thank you! trisgale showed me a good write up on a custom one another person did on here. It looked really good! I am going to do what this other person did. I will do it on wend after I finish getting this Navi screen in (what a pain in the a** job this is). I will take pics and post them and get some feed back from everyone. If it needs more adjustment after that I then I will do more adjusting from there.

Thank you coolhand. I am going to do some other modification to make it fit better. After I post some new pics please let me know what you think.

alpine003 I have seen the plastic grills you are talking about. They do look good on those cars. I have also seen the 40th anniversary grill witch also looks great. I am just trying to get that more aggressive look out of the front of the car. I think the mesh does do the trick. I will just fit it all a little better. Now pictures are mistaken and when you see the car in person it all looks stock (to the untrained eye). Us Porsche owners know the grill doesnt come stock on there so when we see it we know right away it is all off.

cWade thank you!! I appreciate the positive feedback. The red is a cool idea!!! Everyone customizes their cars now. Even Ferrari's and Lambo's get custom work. So to customize a Porsche is no different. When I first bought the car I said I wouldnt do anything to it. But, like every other car I have ever owned I had to go and start doing custom work.
