Arrow You should...

...replace the battery and for peace of mind get the alternator checked.

Generally the flat battery is just a battery issue (drain from alarm etc...).

Walmart sells a Group 49R direct replacement as well... $70 or so.

IMHO, best thing for the battery in these cars is to drive the car frequently.

MalcolmV is infamous around these parts
If you buy your battery at Walmart they will install for free. Make sure the drain tube is installed correctly, last thing you need is battery acid in the car. If you are like me and store your car over the winter, invest in a good trickle charger and keep it connected if you don't use the car at least a couple times a week.

I bought MAXXX 48 from Walmart yeterday (they did not carry 49) and installed it myself with the tool that the car came with. I unplugged the tube and reconnected it to the new battery, hope I did that right. The new battery is smaller than the old one but it fit ok. Overall it's an easy DIY.

Excellent. It's an easy job for anyone with some basic tools. Hope this one lasts for a long time.

Battery seems to crap out in cold weather. Get it changed at the first sign of weakness (dim lights, hesistation in starting). It'll save you a lot of frustration and being stranded.
