Too Much Air?
check engine light came on Friday; took it to the dealer on Sat. It was the MAF, they clear/reset the code.
I have the EVOM Cold Air Intake. Service Advisor claimed that the DME couldn't adjust to the increase in air flow.
I thought the computer adjust/reprogram itself to accept mods.
any thoughts on this?

A less restrictive air filter provides only a reduction in pressure drop across the inlet manifold so the air is at a greater pressure, (higher density) when it reaches the intake valve. The engine is a positive displacement pump and will take a specific amount of air based on the size of the combustion chambers. The only way to get more air is to use a blower or a turbo to compress the air before it is sent to the engine. Temperature will change the density but the MAF is a Mass type meter and is temperature and atmospheric pressure compensated. All normal ambient changes should be figured into the way the actual mass flow is calculated. The fuel mapping is then adjusted based on the calc. mass flow.
Sounds like the MAF is oily or dirty. There is nothing miraculous about any of this stuff.
