Another subwoofer option
I added a Sound Ordnance powered subwoofer to my 2000 996. I built a small platform and covered it in leather, mounted the sub to it and installed in rear shelf under the window.
Underneath the carpet I attached a small piece of plywood to the metal shelf (with several pieces of velcro-strong stuff) with two bolts attached to the plywood and coming up through the carpet and then through the MDF shelf that the amp is attached to.
The curved pieces that cover the ends of the amp are a 5 gallon Home Deport bucket covered in leather.
Sub sounds good-no Basslink but a lot better than the Kenwood self powered sub i had.
