How long did the job take to do from start to finish? Im at 5 months with an independent Porsche Guru and still waiting. Stripped all the way down, had the heads worked, the block examined and the crank polished. Everything went together with new bearings and ARP bolts.

Thanks guys,

Sergio

5 months? Did you request a hand built engine and they took you literally? Seriously, what do they say is the holdup? Way too long imo. Most opt for a remanufactured engine from the factory but I guess you knew that. Personally I think something is amiss here. You see this kind of stuff when the shop is insolvent ie can't afford parts, etc. There is a point where patience is not the answer. I think you need to be reconsidering your options. You may be able to have your property removed to a local dealer and take them to small claims court. Before they declare bankruptcy.

Moderate custom Turbo engine rebuilds even take less than 5 months. Yes, a ground breaking Turbo engine rebuild takes 1-2 years. (see the turbo section). A NA carrera engine rebuild? 4-6 weeks at the most. They must be doing your engine at their spare time.

My engine rebuild, which included new cylinder sleeves, head gaskets, and a few updates, took around 40 hour labor. If that.

tarzan, what was your cost? where'd you get it done? thanks.

scantu- like others... way too long of time for a rebuild. i'd imagine you could get a 3.8L and the brains installed quicker.
