Lubrication of power seat rails

When I move my seat all the way back I get a clunking grinding sound.... my guess is that it needs some lube or grease on the assembly?

Anybody that has done this before please let me know your best bets...

Thanks in advance..

I had a clicking sound from my power, heated driver's seat around corners that was driving me batty. I was convinced something was loose.

I used the seat removal procedure in the service manuals to remove the seat and found the clicking was just the result of loose change that had fallen into the seat rails, etc. Fixed the problem and made $1.62!

Removing the seat is really simple, only 4 torx screws need to be removed and the electrical connections unhooked and voila. I found hair and grime caught up in the gears and rails and cleaned them out and added some fresh grease.

I'd encourage you to give that a try. Your issue might be very simple too.

Thanks for your response,

I was looking at it yesterday and it looks pretty straight forward, what grease did you use? I was thinking of a marine bearing grease just for longevity purposes.

I also have and need to swap out the seatbelt buckles and the center console, window switches and it looks like I need to take out the seats for that work anyways. Maybe this weekend...

I used marine grease because I had some around for my boat and its high quality stuff.

The seat belt buckles are attached to the seats, so you'll need to remove them to replace. The console is quite easy. Use the B&M short shift kit installation instructions as a guide.

Good luck. Its easier than you expect.

Thanks so much for the tip and the short shifter manual..... makes a world of difference then just blindly removing things.
