Sunroof Switch

A minor problem with my 2003 C4S sunroof. I think it's the switch but wanted to see if anyone else had a similar problem. The only way I can get it to open is by pressing the front of the button (front being the same direction as front of the car) which angles the sunroof. Press the front button again and the roof goes into the closed position. Next immediately press the rear button quickly and sunroof opens all the way by itself (one touch opening). Closing the sunroof I need to hold the front button all the way till its closed. No one touch closing. If I stop depressing the button while it's closing it stops but I can't open the sunroof again until I close the sunroof all the way.

As stated this is a minor problem but one I wouldn't mind fixing if it's a simple switch replacement.

Thank you

I have a customer who had a similar issue just yesterday with his C4S. I ended up sending him a new sunroof switch, hopefully it should fix the problem. It's $37 part so it might be worth the try. Good luck!

Axeman - Sorry, I'm new to the forum and can't reply to your PM. However, yes I have a 2003 C4S. Switch is black with fwd arrow, back arrow and middle circular button.

Here's a picture of the switch:

The sunroof may need to be reset/re-learn. That is, fully open and then close it by pressing the button down while it opens and closes. This may reset it.

I know this is an old post but I was wondering if anyone figured out the answer to this problem. My 2003 4s is doing the same thing. Did it require a new switch? Was anyone able to get it to re-learn? If new switch, how difficult was it to fix?

It is the motor. I have had same issue and unfortunately the reset will not fix it. Several post about it on Rennlist forums.
However, it has been that way for over a year and still opens and closes so fixing it is not worth the $400 a new motor will run me.

Same issue here. It still works, so I am just going to live with it for now. Relearn doesn't help but for more than 5 minutes or so. Then it goes back to the same behavior.
