Saw on funcarsonline that you changed from alum to black guage faces. Was thinking of doing the opposite and was wondering why you switched. Was it just personal preference, or was there another reason (glare, etc)?

As I had painted my center console and my cluster surround AS, it was just a bit too much silver for me. So I purchased turbo gauges (Yes my speedo was off, but really didn't pay too much attention to the analog anyway and I preferred the script, I suppose that should have been some indication I was on my way to a 996! ) in black, it looked more pleasing to my eye with the mods I had done. However, once I had done them, I did notice they were easier during the day for me to look at, perhaps it's my old age. They say the first thing to go is eyesight.

I have silver guages on the 996 with a black cluster and black console, so in my opinion, it needs the silver gauges to break up the black inside. But, I am getting used to it. I had considered yellow for a time, not sure about that, it might be a bit too hard to deal with ...and I might then forego looking at the speedo altogether...NOT good!

Thanks for the response. I have black guages, and they are easy enough to read, the only reason I was considering silver is that I think they look cool...but I've heard some people say that they are a little hard to read at certain times of the day...

 

I have black guages and considered changing to Silver.
But I will probably add the Silver Rings instead to break up
the instrument cluster. Bumper Plugs have them that snap on
the guages. Just a thought!

do you have a pic you can attach? Never seen black alu...I may just go for the silver rings...
