I don't know if this information is accurate or not but manufacturers offer "secret warranties" often. As I understand it secret warranties are said to cover a known problem without issueing a general recall or advising the community in general. In practice the directive is to fix said issues only when a specific customer complains.
Pssst. I can tell you that my IMS bearing was......crap the alarm on my car just went off. Gotta go

I wrote to the guy in the eBay listing, here is his reply.
The main bearings are prone to failure which wrecks your entire engine. It does not happen to every porsche but somewhere between 20-50% are vulnerable. It's a "secret" recall so Porsche is NOT going to say it exists. It's a secret they don't want anyone to know about. Just google Porsche IMS Failure and read some of the blogs to get the true story.

Look guys, Google "secret warranty". It's a well known practice. I have no idea if Porsche issued one for this problem but "car guys" should be aware of this somewhat common principle. You never know if you may need help in the future. Mark
You know, one way to check this out would be to request a copy of the dealer service invoice for this work and see if what it shows for the cost coverage...ie: under warranty or something like that.
