I have an opportunity to get a great deal on some B&B Headers for my '99 996, but am wondering if they will yield any performance benefit with the stock Catalysts? I currently have a Fabspeed Maxflo exhaust system.

Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

 

I would not spend a lot of money on them because any performance benefit is doubtful and may even hurt low end performance. The bigger issue is the very good potential of breaking the original exhaust manifold bolts when you try to remove them. I snapped four and it is a ***** to drill them and install time-certs. Just my opinion.

 

Thanks for the input. After some searching it looks as though your concerns are valid - probably not worth the money on a street car.

 

Stock is better. If you want sound get mufflers
