IMS update, clutch and more.....
I decided to do an early service @ 50K... clutch was heavy but not slipping and I wanted to avoid a new flywheel if possible.... at any rate I did the 60k service, updated the IMS bearing using a LNE retrofit, RMS, flushed brake and clutch lines, transmission oil change, engine oil (Quartz 9000 5w-40) and installed a 997 SSK, and of course all the other incidentals...
Interestingly, the IMS bearing removed was as new.... not a mark, spun smoothly and momentarily the thought passed through my mind.... should I have spent the $$?... that lasted a few seconds especially when Peter the mechanic said... these things go fast with NO warning.... I knew it was the right decision!
The SSK makes a marked difference.... short positive shifts altho I am still remapping my personal shift patterns....
It was an expensive venture but other than oil changes and probably brakes somewhere down the line... I am good to go for another 30K and resting easy with the infamous IMS bearing updated!

We considered that... apparently it is the diaphragm that fails.... it is much more prevalent a failure on Boxsters...and don't ask me why.... decided that it just wasn't a priority at this point.... more of a smokey PIA...
