Are 986 Boxster and 996 Carrera bumpers interchangeable?

Title says it all. I have a 2001 996 C4 and I can pick up a 97-2002 986 bumper. From what I read I believe that these are the same and fit but I just wanted to confirm here.

Are you sure? I read a number of post now that state the early version of the 996 1999-2001 is the same as that of the 986 boxster.

My friend has a 98 986 n his front bumper has different front fascia / air damns than my 99...

Yep, it is the grill areas that are different... but they do bolt on.
