Fair price for 2002 C2?

Hi - New to this forum and giving serious thought to purchasing a 996 Carrera as a 2nd car. I've found a 2002 C2 with low miles (~30k) for about $30k. The seller was initially asking a little more but offered to drop the price when I asked if there was any flexibility. It's well optioned and is in great shape (1 or 2 bumper scuffs, but otherwise immaculate). KBB and Edmunds tell me that this car should be closer to $25-26k - even in great shape. Unfortunately, there aren't enough of these on the market right now tell if this price is fair. I'm not looking to haggle and try to kill the guy on price, but I certainly don't want to overpay by $5k either. Any insight would be welcome. Thanks!

Hey,
I am by no means an expert. However, I have been looking at 2000-2003 996s and with any car less than 35k miles, I haven't seen the price below $30k. I have even tried to negotiate but haven't found anything cheaper than $30k. You will definitely have people tell you to offer $25k but I haven't had luck. My take is if you like the car and can afford it, go for it. Good luck and let us know what you end up doing.

If the car checks out clean and has a good pre-purchase inspection, $30k sounds good. The low mileage helps the value. Perhaps offer $28,000, but be willing to move up to $30k.

Just wanted to say thanks for the help guys. I ended up buying the car and it's sitting in my garage now. The seller didn't want to budge much more than $30k, but I did the PPI and everything looked good. Turns out he had also just put new rear tires on it and replaced the RMS & IMS (used the LN Engineering kit). Now I just have to wait for the insurance paperwork in the mail so I can get it registered!

Here she is. This is just one I snapped with my iPhone. The interior is black full leather with red stitching and red seat belts. Pretty cool combindation.

One more question for you guys - does anyone know a good body shop / detailer in the Boston area? The paint has some swirl marks, presumably from a bad wax job, that I'd like to get fixed.

Outstanding. The fact that the IMS bearing has been replaced by the best possible replacement is a huge bonus. Good deal. I hope I have the same luck.

The clear sidemarkers make this a killer deal .

With the IMS/RMS replacements, new tires and clean PPI I think you got a fair price. Now, enjoy the heck out of it.

definitely a good deal.
i paid $29k last summer for 2002 with 22,000miles, without the full leather or off-color stitching, plus the rears needed to be replaced, and no IMS upgrade.

now go out and drive it!

Shucks, I should ship my 02 up to the mainland.
Here in Hawaii I'm looking at low 20's, if that, for my 02 with 56k. Motor is a factory replacement with less than 20k on it!
