Finally got my first porsche

thanks for all the help and advise, i finally did it.

2002 C4S 6 speed, OEM short shifter, OEM ROW suspension, and babied by previous owner. we were able to get help from friend at local porsche dealer to buy the car from the private seller. the car got certified, and i can now lease the car as a dealer sales with better rate. seller did lower his price to make this happen, and i also went up a little which is okay since it's now certified.

here is a quick pic, the car is now at the dealer and will go through inspection tomorrow. i think i will get to pick it up on friday, if i can find a ride since it's on the other side of LA and i am pretty sure my wife is not driving me!!

i am one happy man.

hey arling, thanks. i am just about to post a for sale thread. need to sell the 19's on my audi S4 and the money will be transferred to you for some nice wheels on the 4S. (i have a 4S and a S4--- that is going to be confusing)

the car was sold by a private seller. he had to lower the price a little to give the dealer some money, while i paid the same amount. in the process, the car will take a detour to the dealer and get certified.

it has small alum package, cd changer, single cd player and Bose. all leather, power seats, memory, OEM short shifter and ROW suspension. also RUF peddles.

it's hard leasing a C4S as all the banks have a very low residual making the payment only 1-200 less than a similar turbo. but because the reisdual is so low (28500 in 4 years), i think i will be able to sell this car without much upside down, if i should decide to change it in a few years. or i can buy it back at 28500 to either keep it, or sell it easily for more than that, i hope.

it is very clean without any flaw. the guy took care of this car like a true car lover. i think he even has a cast model of same car in his room (which is part of the deal)

BTW, i think the car is definitely a little lowerd...

can't wait for friday. hey arling, going down to long beach by any chance??

damn you bastard. you got it. i'm jealous. how much did you get it for if you don't mind me asking? you can PM me the price if you don't feel like posting it. did you buy it out of state? which dealer? sorry for all the questions

the car looks GREAT. can't wait to see what you do with it. maybe you can sell it to me in a few months for 10k less than what you paid

Congrats,

and certified is the way to go, especially if you lease since you don't want to pay for anything big on a car that's not yours. BTW, why lease? Tax Reasons? For a 2002 the payments on a loan can't be that bad.

I still remember my first porsche, I think I washed her every other hour for a week and just kept going outside to stare as well. I kept my 930 for a long time, from my early driving days thru marrage and 1st kid, so we really grewup together and it hurt when I sold her. Nevermind me I'm reminising....

Any way goodluck, enjoy, welcome to wonderful world of porsche ownership and I hope you keep the C4S forever.

Corey

Wow, that's looks awesome. Enjoy it. Once you drive it, you don't give a damn how much you paid... until the first payment comes around.

lease is a much easier way for me. but you are right, purchase is not too different, i would likely pay around 1300 on a loan with is just few hundreds more (but over 5 years).

but i do like the fact my residual is so low, if i decided to keep car after 4 years, i will just buy it for real cheap, or selling and make the difference.
