whats it actually worth 99 c2
whats it actually worth 99 c2
Ok I reread the forum rules and did not see this as a no no, please if it is delete it, I do not mean to step on toes.
I just got word I will be heading to Iraq/Kuwait in a few months for another year long deployment. I see no point in putting the car in storage when somebody else could be out in enjoying it. I am probably going to sell it in the coming months but don't know where to start.
The car is a 99 ocean blue c2 with 54k miles. It is under warranty til may and I am taking it isringhousen in Springfield Il to get checked out and replace anything that needs to be replaced. I am not going to do a 60k service on it so is assume that would hit the selling price a little? Are these like most sports cars and go down in value in winter and up in spring/summer. Should I wait till spring and have a friend try to sell it for me if the prices swing by the weather? everything on the car works but I have only owned it for three weeks and have no idea what the used market is for cars like these. Everything is stock as far as I know. Also besides here where are other places to list these that are cheap. I'm in a small town so I doubt it would sell locally.
Again the car is not forsale I am just trying to figure out my options and minimize my loss

if you just got it i would list it for exactly what you paid... ebay is a good place to get some attention. I was able to sell a few cars of ebay to locals who saw the ad.. craigslist is also an option...
I'll bite. Color is good and so are the wheels. Amber can be a minus. Wait til spring. Upper teens to low 20's to sell it fast. 22-25k if you don't mind waiting for the right buyer. Of course this is based on the limited info presented. Good Luck(in both selling and in Kuwait).
I thought about eBay. I am just looking for a range not an exact price. I have looked at nada and kbb but neither really reflect true market value. I'd hate to post it to high and be stuck sitting on it or to low and kick myself for losing a thousand dollars or so.
You can always start it low on eBay and put a reserve on it. Also don't be afraid to keep listing it if it doesn't meet reserve the first time. Not everyone cruises eBay all the time. Timing can be everything here as well.

Well the interior is in great shape minus driver seat bolster is starting to wear. Tires still have a ton of tread. All work was done by a dealer. All recalls were taking care of the ims and rms have both been replaces and updated. I have 33 pages of service records from.when it was new to now showing everything that has been done to the car to include detail jobs to touch ups. When it offically goes up for sale it will be a lot more indepth listing. Thank you all for the replies. I am waiting til I get in to get inspected and see if anything needs to be replaced before I go through the trouble of listing it.
Well with the current IMS debacle and the longevity prospective of Lokasil in our engines, the value of these cars will continue to go down until there is a very inexpensive way to salvage their engines.
I have a oddball theory that if you have a running early model 996 in 10-20 years that has good compression, it is going to be worth a ton of money, because there might not be a whole lot of them left on the road.

I sold my 99 same color as your with savanah beige interior in feb of this year for $20k.. It had about 63k miles with not much options on the car but I did have an aftermarket gps radio in it. Car had new engine at 30k miles and full service records. Placed it on ebay for two weeks and had a local pick it up. I priced it on ebay for buy it now option at $22k with reserve at $19.5. I also left my phone number so if anyone had questions they can call and ask. Good luck...
8 months of warranty left = good
IMS, RMS already updated = good
Service history = good
54k miles = good
If it was mine, I would probably price it at $23,000 and negotiate from there. But to be truly honest, if it was mine I would simply store the car until I got back home.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do with it!
