DIY ignition coil change?

Hey all, just picked up a 996 and the PPI uncovered some cracked ignition coils due to the wrong plugs. Has anyone ever done this repair or have any insight? I'm pretty handy but new to working on pcars. Thanks!

Replace the coil packs. Very easy job.

Remove the mufflers to make it easier.

Here is info on 997 procedure, pretty much the same. Join over on renntech.org and get the tutorial.

Here's the 996 spark plug tutorial, which of course requires removing the coil packs and plugs and then installing them again. In your case since they are cracked, buy the correct new plugs and coil packs to replace them with.

Logray is correct. I would also add that cracked coil packs are quite common(they get very hot, very often) aren't necessarily the result of incorrect spark plugs.
