Short commute hurting engine?

My commute is about 7-8 minutes 5 days a week. At least 4 days a week, I'll drive the car over 30 miles for work and fun. Oil will be changed every 3-4K miles.

Is the engine being hurt by the short drives? Would appreciate any insight.

In the So Cal climate, you need not worry about condensation eating the exhaust system as we do in the norteast in the winter. with the stainless steel exhaust systems, that probably is not as much a problem as it used to be. Does the engine come up to operating temperature? If so, such an easy daily ride should offer no detremental long term effects. If my comuute was as short, I would take mine everyday.
